Fareham College has excellent IT facilities which are constantly maintained and updated to ensure that all study at college is supported through using the latest technological advances.
In the last inspection Fareham College was declared to have “placed strong emphasis on the development of ILT” (the use of Information Technology for Teaching and Learning). The inspection report also stated that in Fareham College “ICT is used effectively.”
There is one computer for every five students at Fareham College, resulting in easy access. Every student has a personal Fareham College e-mail account which can be accessed both in and outside the college, ensuring that regular communications with tutors and lecturers is quick and convenient. Students also benefit from high-speed broadband Internet access
A suite of Apple Macs are located within the Art & Design department, complete with the latest professional software for students to get to grips with. Other specialist computing facilities and software are also present in the Engineering, Media, Music, Hospitality & Catering and Business departments
Fareham College benefits from an extensive Virtual Learning Environment based on the Moodle online learning system. This can be accessed both from within the campus and from any Internet capable computer off-campus. This allows students to download course materials and upload assignments or homework, even when they are away on weekends, college trips and holidays. All students study Key Skills in ICT at an appropriate level.
The Fareham College IT Helpdesk is always available to provide support for anyone using the college’s wide range of ICT facilities. The Helpdesk is open 08:30 to 20:30 Monday to Thursday and 08:30 to 16:30 on Friday.
