What is an Apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships allow you to develop your practical skills and learn all the theory associated with your chosen specialism whilst being employed and earning a wage. The mode of delivery for different apprenticeships vary depending on the sector and employer requirements but generally, you learn at work for four days a week and are released to go to college one day per week to study and to complete the work necessary for your qualification.

There is a wide range of Apprenticeships available through Fareham College, including:

  • Accounting
  • Automotive
  • Business Admin
  • Carpentry & Construction
  • Customer Service
  • Childcare
  • Engineering
  • Hair & Beauty
  • Health & Social Care
  • Hospitality & Catering
  • IT Support
  • Management & Team Leading
  • Marketing
  • Exercise & Fitness

Become an Apprentice

To start an apprenticeship the first step is to find an employer who is willing to employ you as an apprentice. We can help you to find a potential apprenticeship employer through our Employment Hub and dedicated Employment Services team and you can also find available vacancies on the official apprenticeship website: www.apprenticeship.org.uk.

Once you have an employer we can arrange an interview at College and then the process for starting your apprenticeship can begin. We work with many local companies including BAE Systems, Eaton Aerospace, GE Aviation, Fareham Borough Council, Southampton Football Club, Qinetiq, Strands, Kiddi Caru, Turbomecca and many more to offer amazing apprenticeships in Fareham and beyond.
