There are several different types of BTEC qualifications on
offer at Fareham College, from Levels 1 to 4, in a wide range
of vocational subjects. The level best suited to a student depends
on the qualifications that they have already attained.
Level 1
The BTEC Introductory Diplomas encourage students to develop
the personal skills and attributes needed in order to build up
their confidence in their ability to work, learn and reach their
full potential.
Once completed, a BTEC Introductory Diploma equates to 4 GCSEs
at grades D-G.
Entry requirements: Some GCSE passes at grade E or above.
Level 2
BTEC First Diplomas are vocational qualifications that provide
the initial knowledge and understanding for work or to progress
to Level 3.
This equates to 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C
Entry requirements: 4 GCSE passes at grade D-E, or Introductory
Diploma.
Level 3
BTEC National Diplomas focus on a specialist vocational area
and are equivalent to 3 A levels.
Entry requirements: at least 4 GCSE passes at grade A*-C or First
Diploma.
Level 4
BTEC Higher National Diplomas are intensive degree-level qualifications.
Fareham College offers one HND in Performing Arts [Acting].
Entry requirements: a BTEC National Diploma or equivalent qualifications
in a relevant subject.
Don’t forget that the VOCATIONAL BTEC National
Diploma = 3 A Levels
That means you can still go to university, but study a course
at college that really interests you.
