There are several different types of BTEC qualifications on offer at Fareham College, from Levels 1 to 4, in a wide range of vocational subjects. The level best suited to a student depends on the qualifications that they have already attained.

Level 1

The BTEC Introductory Diplomas encourage students to develop the personal skills and attributes needed in order to build up their confidence in their ability to work, learn and reach their full potential.
Once completed, a BTEC Introductory Diploma equates to 4 GCSEs at grades D-G.
Entry requirements:
Some GCSE passes at grade E or above.

Level 2

BTEC First Diplomas are vocational qualifications that provide the initial knowledge and understanding for work or to progress to Level 3.
This equates to 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C
Entry requirements: 4 GCSE passes at grade D-E, or Introductory Diploma.

Level 3

BTEC National Diplomas focus on a specialist vocational area and are equivalent to 3 A levels.
Entry requirements: at least 4 GCSE passes at grade A*-C or First Diploma.

Level 4

BTEC Higher National Diplomas are intensive degree-level qualifications. Fareham College offers one HND in Performing Arts [Acting].
Entry requirements: a BTEC National Diploma or equivalent qualifications in a relevant subject.

Don’t forget that the VOCATIONAL BTEC National Diploma = 3 A Levels

That means you can still go to university, but study a course at college that really interests you.
