Parent Portal

The Parent Portal is a hub designed to give you, as parents and carers, direct access to information about your son/daughter. Attendance, progress and other key information is available for parents to view.

If we don’t have your up to date email address, please contact info@fareham.ac.uk and we will be in touch with your login details.

Attendance

Good attendance is a key component of your son or daughter’s ability to succeed and reach their full potential whilst studying with the College. All courses have been designed so that students acquire knowledge, information and experience in classroom or workshop environments so attending all classes is vital.

There is significant academic research which shows that attendance directly affects the grades that learners achieve. We would therefore ask you to encourage your son or daughter to strive for 100% attendance during their course.  Students who fall below the College’s attendance target will be hugely disadvantaged and as a responsible education provider, we will enforce the Student Disciplinary Policy where necessary.

The College acknowledges that there may be times when a student cannot attend due to ill health, significant appointment etc. In this event please call 01329 815 200 and press ‘Option 1’ to report the absence as soon as possible. Alternatively,

Communication

Fareham College recognises the important support Parents/Guardians provide their child so we try to make it as easy as possible for Parents/Guardians to share in Learners’ progress and support Learners’ studies. Ways we communicate with Parents/Guardians:

  • Learner Progress Reviews posted
  • Invitations to attend meetings with Personal Tutors
  • Parent Portal

The College will always seek to keep parents informed about any issues affecting students. Parents/guardians should feel free to contact the Personal Tutor, in the first instance, if they wish to discuss their son/daughters progress or other matters.

Fareham College will work with you to ensure that there is clear and consistent communication with staff. We welcome any input from you to enable us to support your son or daughter to achieve their full potential.

Please note that due to Safeguarding and Data Protection reasons the College can only provide information relating to students to their immediate next of kin.

The College is also establishing a parents Liaison group. Should you require any further advice or information relating to this please contact the Student Services Manager on 01329 815 200.

Progression

All of our courses are structured to enable each student to progress upon completion. For some students that can mean starting new courses or progressing to the next level of a specific qualification within the college. At all stages of progression each student will be able to access support, advice and guidance to ensure that their progression route meets their individual development needs.

Fareham College has established excellent links with local universities who provide our students with a wealth of information and support relating to the courses students may wish to study and where they may want to do it. Students applying for University courses generally follow a National Diploma course (equates to 3 A Levels), a range of A Levels or the New Diploma. An increasing number of students progress from a First Diploma on to a National Diploma and then on to University.

The College is also establishing a parents Liaison group. Should you require any further advice or information relating to this please contact the Student Services Manager on 01329 815 200.
