Talented students shine at Fareham College’s annual Showcase Event

Ferneham Hall was transformed into a breathtaking catwalk event on Wednesday 26th May, as Hairdressing and Beauty students showcased their creative skills to a packed house.

The evening was a colourful extravaganza of stunning hair creations, nail art and vibrant makeup. Each look was styled with costumes created and made by students for the event. Amongst the theme were Circus de Soliel and Fantasy. Dancers from the group ‘Street Force’ put on impressive performances to support the show, as well as being catwalk models themselves.

The event was a culmination of months of hard work and preparation from students with the support and guidance of the experienced staff at the College.

The atmosphere was filled with anticipation and excitement as models took to the catwalk in front of a panel of expert judges who had the difficult job of picking a winner from each category.

Danni Vadis who was awarded Level Three Student of the year said
“I was really so pleased to win Student of the Year. I chose Fareham College because it has such a good reputation and I haven’t been disappointed”.

Jordan Ackerman who came third in both the Cut and Colour and the Men’s Barbering category commented “The competition has taken months of preparation especially working on my cut and colour skills to get it right. I am thrilled to win my awards as all my hard work has really paid off”.

Students from the College music department supported the event by providing some of the entertainment for the evening, with Cabin Crew students working hard to ensure the smooth running of the event.

Proceeds raised at the event and additional fundraising events organised by the students will be donated to two charities, ‘Kids’ and ‘Hearing Dogs for Deaf People’.

Fareham College’s Hair and Beauty courses continue to attract students from a wide area. The department has held Grade One status which is awarded by Ofsted for the last 16 years.
