Fareham College finalists in national Orange competition
Fareham College’s Peter Jones Enterprise Academy students were short listed for the second year running to create an educational campaign.
The national ‘Orange – Everything Everywhere’ competition encouraged students to pitch their ideas for a peer to peer campaign to inform school children aged between 8-16 years about the risks presented by social media.
Oliver Beamer, 17, Ryan Lind and Jodie White, both 18, were chosen as one of six finalist groups to visit Orange’s Headquarters in Paddington, London. They devised their campaign to include a game, online case studies and a forum to educate young people in a non-threatening way.
Jodie White, formerly of Brune Park Community College, said: ‘It was really exciting to go to the Orange Headquarters. This was our first professional pitch and a big step towards being prepared for the future.’
She added: ‘It really improved my confidence by standing up and talking to people.’
