Writer of Wallace and Gromit shares expertise with students

Fareham College will be hosted a Q & A session with BAFTA and Oscar winning writer, Bob Baker.

Bob, who won his awards among 48 others for the Wallace and Gromit film, The Wrong Trousers, talked to Performing Arts students about his work and offered advice to any budding writers or producers. He will be in all week working with the students on their current projects, along with his wife Marie, who has directed musicals and theatre productions at Bristol’s Old Vic Theatre. Throughout their time they will be sharing their wealth of experience through performing Shakespeare and providing a critical eye over their work.

Sianna Lane, 23, who is studying BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts, said: ‘It’s about how he has created scripts onto film and how to develop our future careers. Bob is helping me to create my own play.’

Bob’s other works include writing for Dr. Who for 10 years and K-9. He said: ‘If you have any ideas, write them down and send them somewhere – that’s what I did.‘

You need to find out who to send it to – producers and directors of works. That would be the official way to send things. I found the highest person at a TV station.’

Students asked questions about how to get into the industry, how Bob comes up with an idea and if there will be another Wallace and Gromit feature to which Bob responded: ‘I’m working on Nick Park for it!’
