Hayley Stradling

Studying: Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy

Previous School: Wildern School

"I was on a Level 1 course and wanted to continue my progression as it appealed to me. It’s great to learn in a working environment rather than a classroom.

The College is very good with a friendly environment and the tutors are really helpful.

After my course finished I may go on to do the Level 3 or get a job at a salon."

Studying: Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying

Previous School: Miltoncross School

"I wanted to learn a trade and I was prepared to travel for the best learning environment. There’s a lot of practical work which suits me. By gaining a qualification in Bricklaying I can get a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card. This means that I would have passed the Health and Safety exam to enable me to work as a Bricklayer. If I were to recommend the College I would say it’s well equipped, helpful and is an excellent environment to work in and progress."

Studying: BTEC Level 2 Childcare

Previous School: Cams Hill School

"I chose to come to Fareham College because I really want a career working with children. I have loved so many things about the course such as going on placements, making new friends, having supportive tutors and practical lessons. The College has amazing student support services; it cares about its students and doesn’t discriminate. In my spare time I help my mum in her childminding business and this is something I would like to do when my course ends. I really want to look after children with additional needs, to help and support them and their families and make their lives better."

Studying: BTEC Level 3 Mechanical Engineering

Previous School: Bay House School

"I’m currently on an apprenticeship at the Defence Munitions Gosport and Fareham College is their contracted college for the qualification. I enjoy constantly learning new skills; one day is never the same here. There is an excellent variety of courses available. The staff are very supportive and experienced enough to share their skills with you to help you succeed. When I leave Fareham College, I would like to stay in the Engineering sector. I may possibly move to Australia or join the Army’s Royal Engineers."

"I chose to come to Fareham College because of the course on offer and I like the friendly feel of the College. It is commited and helpful; my tutor even secured us paid work experience on the Universal Studios set of Snow White and the Huntsman. Studying: Level 2 Hospitality and Catering

Previous School: Brune Park Community College

"My main reasons for choosing to enrol at Fareham College was that I got on very well with the staff and students and it felt like a good place to be. The College is lively, supportive and hands-on and you have fun at the same time. I prefer the fact that we do more practical sessions than theory so I can put into practice what I learn. When I finish my course I want to own my own Michelin-starred restaurant and have a successful career that I love."
