Selection Process

Shortlisting

Once the advert closing date has passed for the job role, the shortlisting managers (usually the recruiting manager and another manager) will review the Application for Employment Forms against the requirements for the job role (as detailed in the job description and person specification) and will select which applicants to invite for interview.

This process is completed within 4 weeks of the closing date of the advert, so applicants who have not been contacted and invited for an interview within 4 weeks have not been successful in securing an interview. Unfortunately we are unable to offer feedback to candidates who have not been shortlisted for interview.

Facilities at Interview

Every effort will be made to provide appropriate facilities for candidates at interviews. Please contact the Human Resources Department should you have any requirements to enable you to attend the interview.

Interviews & Assessments

The College conducts competency based panel interviews for all job vacancies. Candidates will be notified prior to their interview date if they will be required to complete any other type of assessment during their interview.

The Decision

The interview panel will make their decision on which candidate to appoint on the basis of the evidence made available to the panel throughout the recruitment and selection process. Normally candidates are notified of the decision within five working days.

Pre-employment Checks

The successful candidate will be provided with an offer of employment which is conditional upon the following checks being satisfactorily completed:

  • Reference check
  • Pre-employment Medical check
  • Check of the candidates eligibility to work in the UK
  • Criminal Conviction and Safeguarding Declaration Form
  • Criminal Record Bureau check, including a list 99 Check
  • Check of Qualifications
  • Successful completion of the College’s Induction Programme
