Applying to Fareham College
Applying is simple and straightforward – simply find the course you want and click the ‘Apply now’ button!
It will take approximately 5 minutes to make an online application – if you have any questions along the way, our Careers Centre Advisors will be pleased to help.
T: 01329 815 200
You can also apply on paper – just get in touch if you’d like us to send you a hard copy application form, or you can collect one from an Open Evening, the College reception, or find a copy in the back of our prospectus.
If you are applying for a full time course, we strongly recommend you submit your application before the end of the December.
Applying for a Full Time Course
1. Submit Your Application
When we receive your application form we will ask your school for a reference and then arrange an informal pre-interview between you and one of our Careers Centre Advisors. This is an opportunity to discuss your plans for the future and the various course options you are interested in.
Don’t worry if you’re torn between a number of courses. We’ll make sure that you find the path that’s the best fit for you, your aspirations and the grades you’ve achieved!
2. Come to an Intro Session
3. Your Offer
Along with your offer letter you will receive details of how to accept your offer, information about travel and financial assistance that may be available, as well as further details about the enrolment process.
4. Induction Day
5. GCSE Results & Enrolment
6. College Starts!
You will receive all the information you need to start your course well in advance, including your timetable and any specific kit or uniform you need, so you can hit the ground running with your new adventure at Fareham College.
Applying for a Part Time Course
Once you have submitted your application online or on paper, you will be contacted by a member of our Careers Team who will confirm your details. If you are applying for a leisure course, you will be able to enrol and pay immediately online. For professional or Higher Education courses, an interview or meeting with a course tutor may be required to discuss your previous experience and future ambitions. You can find each course’s specific entry requirements in their listings.
If your application is successful, you will be sent a formal offer of a place at Fareham College. You might need to provide certificates or proof of your experience at this stage for certain types of courses.
Along with your offer letter you will also receive details of how to accept your offer, information about travel and financial assistance that may be available, as well as further details about the enrolment process.
Once your place is confirmed, you will receive all the information you need to begin your course, including your confirmed start date and time, teaching location and details of any specific kit, uniform or resources you need. Again, these can be found out ahead of time on the course pages or during your discussion with our knowledgeable Careers Centre Advisors.
Applying for an Apprenticeship
If you know what sort of area or sector you would like to work in (eg. Engineering, Computing, Media, etc) then head to that section our website. All the current Apprenticeship Vacancies for that area will be listed for you to view. You can also see a complete list of vacancies on our Apprenticeship page [link]. If you find one you like, click “Apply”.
The link will take you to the National Apprenticeship Service website. This is where you can fill in your application form for the Apprenticeship. As we said before, this is just like a job application, so be sure to explain as best you can why you would like the role advertised and what you hope to achieve.
Once your application is submitted you will hear from one of our Careers Centre Advisors who will be able to tell you more about the company, role and qualifications you’ll learn as part of your Apprenticeship. They will also prepare you with information about the interview process.
Just like with any job, you will then have to meet the company offering the role and interview! Don’t worry – we’ll give you plenty of guidance and support. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the people you’ll be working with and how you’ll fit into the running of the company.
If you are successful in your application, your Apprenticeship will then begin! Some Apprenticeships have a set start date in September, while others begin as soon as the application is accepted.
If you don’t know what sector you would like to take an Apprenticeship in, or can’t see any vacancies that you like, fill out our enquiry form instead and a member of our staff will get in touch to help you find the path to a successful career.
Applying for Higher Education
Depending on how the course is timetabled and delivered, you can apply for a Higher Education course in the same way you would for our other part time courses, either online or through completing a hard copy application form.
However unlike other course types, it is possible to apply for some Higher Education courses up to two years in advance of their start date so that you can plan your progression into your chosen career.
Simply use the Course Finder to identify the course and year you would like to apply for, and a member of staff will be in contact to discuss your application in more depth.
