This 2 year course gives learners the core practitioner training to work as a therapeutic counsellor in an agency context in both health care and non-medical settings. You will develop your knowledge, therapeutic competence and research awareness from your previous counselling qualifications you have completed.
During the course you will cover 8 units throughout the course which include the following topics:
- Personal and Professional Development Through Inclusive Practice
- Empathic Communication in Professional Practice
- Preparing for Research
- Developing Effective Therapeutic Relationships
- The Impact of Significant Childhood Experience on Development
During these units you will have time to practise and develop your counselling skills, consider your own continuing personal development in counselling, and develop knowledge about human development in relation to counselling. You are required to complete a period of at least 100 hours of work experience within an agency across the 2-year course as well as attending the taught sessions.
During the course you will complete a variety of different assessments which will include written assignments, reflection tasks, observations, recorded role play activities and an assessment set by the awarding body.

Tuition fees are payable for all Higher Education courses and the fee for this course is displayed in the information above. This can be paid for in a number of ways:
• HE Loan (or Advanced Learner Loan for some courses)
• Instalment Plan
• Lump sum
HE Loans are easy to apply for and you won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £25,000.
If you applying for our Level 4 Creative Enterprise Diploma, there may be no fees to pay if you are under 19 at the start of the course.
