Five GCSEs at grade 9-3 including Science, English and Maths, or a full Level 1 Motor Vehicle qualification or equivalent experience and knowledge.
Following this course, you will be prepared for a career in the motor vehicle industry.
The course covers a range of skills and knowledge including:
■ Maintaining positive working relationships
■ Routine vehicle maintenance
■ Removing and replacing:
i. Engine units and components
ii. Auxiliary electrical units and components
iii. Chassis units and components
■ Pre and post-work vehicle inspections
You will be encouraged to find a work placement for a minimum of five days to gain garage experience.
On completion of the Level 2 course, you will be interviewed and assessed for suitability to progress to Level 3. You could also continue studying on an Apprenticeship scheme, or go straight in to employment as a mechanic in a garage or auto repair workshop, in agricultural machinery repair/maintenance, the Armed Forces (transport) or a roadside recovery office.
