Five GCSEs at grade 9-3 including English and Maths, or a full Level 1 qualification with a ‘stepping stone’ English and Maths qualification. You will undertake a two-minute audition demonstrating your practical/performance skills.
This exciting music course will give you the opportunity to develop your musical, performance and theoretical skills. You will do this through practical study with experienced lecturers and will have opportunities to work with industry professionals. You can rehearse and record your own music in our purpose-built, industry-standard studios, leading to live gigs in the College’s performance spaces and at professional music venues.
You will learn the wider aspects of putting on performances, including DJ skills. You will also study the music business and music theory in preparation for a career in this industry.
Successful students can progress to the BTEC Level 3 or an alternative Level 3 Popular Music programme. You could also progress directly into employment or an Apprenticeship to further your skills. Career pathways or further study could lead to work as a DJ, musician, music retailer, performer, music journalist, radio presenter and more.
