This qualification is designed for anyone who is looking to gain an introduction to coding. As the world is evolving digitally and the digital sector is growing, this course will give you an insight into the principles of coding, and how coding is used in practice for software development.
Over the 6-10 weeks you will study the following 5 units;
- Understanding the principles of coding
- Understanding the terminology used in coding
- Understand coding design principles
- Understand the processes and practise of coding
- Understand the importance of communication and project management in coding
The course is online, you will receive a login to our learning platform where you will find the interactive learning materials and the assessments.
Manageable deadlines for each unit will be set and a online tutor will be provided to offer feedback and support throughout your study

Learners will also need to demonstrate they have sufficient time to study the qualification as it is expected that you will achieve within 6-10 weeks.
Learners will need to pass a short English/ Maths assessment prior to starting the course. This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.
Learners will need to have access to a computer with a reliable internet connection to complete and submit work.
Please note you can only study one online course at a time. Upon successful completion, you can then apply for a new programme.
This is a level 2 course and is delivered online with one of our assessors providing feedback and support to you. This part funded level 2 course will have a nominal £99 tuition fee from June 2023, fee remission may be avaliable for those eligible applicants based on submission of employment status evidence and prior qualifications. |
The course can be used as CPD or to prepare for a more advanced course in programming such as the Level 3 in Coding Practices

Will I have to pay fees?
School Leavers under the age of 19 do not have to pay fees on any full time courses, though may have to pay for their second year if turning 19 during their studies.
If you’re aged 19 or over you might qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. It’s easy to apply for and you won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £27,295. Find more information on Advanced Learner Loans on our website.
If you are studying a part-time course and you receive one of the following benefits, or you depend financially on someone who does, you may be entitled to have your tuition fees waived:
- Job Seeker’s Allowance
- Income Support
You will, however, have to pay any awarding body/assessment fees (unless you are on a first full level 2 course).
* If you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit or receive other allowances, you may be eligible to claim concessionary rates. If you are entitled to a fee concession you will be asked to provide proof of your entitlement.
It is essential that you inform us if your entitlement changes at any time during your course.
