Diploma in Supporting Teaching & Learning
Two Years – Full time
Five GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English and Maths, or a full Level 2 qualification with a merit profile and grades 9-4 in GCSE English and Maths. Experience in a school/college setting is desirable. You will need to work well as part of a team and also independently. You will have a passion for supporting children and young people with their education. You will also need to be a good listener, have the ability to reflect on your own practice and be willing to participate in class presentations.
This qualification provides learners with an understanding of the knowledge needed when working directly with children and young people in a school or college environment. It will enable learners to gain an understanding of elements including children and young people’s development, safeguarding their welfare, and communication and professional relationships.
High standards of attire are a strict requirement during your course and will include a set college uniform. Text books relating to your course will be available and these are essential for your learning.
As learners need to show competence in both skills and knowledge, they will either need to be working or be on a practical placement, during the taught programme of study, in a learning environment (school or college) and therefore will also require a clear Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS).
On successful completion of the course you could progress on to the Level 4 Certificate for the Advanced Practitioner in Schools & Colleges.
