Diploma in Uniformed Public Services
One Year – Full time
Five GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English and Maths, or a full Level 2 qualification with a merit profile and grades 9-4 in GCSE English and Maths.
This practical course is perfect for you if you are aiming to gain entry into the uniformed public services such as the Army, Royal Navy, Police, Prison or Fire Service. The course looks at certain criteria such as physical fitness, leadership skills and navigation, as well as current affairs and service routine.
The course will cover:
■ Preparation for employment to a chosen uniformed service
■ Development and compulsory participation in all aspects of physical fitness
■ Refinement of leadership skills
■ The legal implications of physical actions
■ Advanced map reading and navigation across open country
■ Participation in coaching sessions within competitive sports
■ Participation in the planning and leading of adventure activities
It will be delivered mainly through practical work, outdoor activities and portfolio building. There will be opportunities to attend a wide-range of team building activities, and take part in off-campus visits to related organisations such as the Police and Fire Service, Army, RAF, Royal Navy and the Royal Marines, as well as other public services.
You can apply to progress directly into one of the uniformed services on completion of this course.
