Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English and Maths, or a full Level 2 qualification with a merit profile and grades 9-4 in GCSE English and Maths.


The Technical Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care has been designed to enable you to gain access to Higher Education or assist with progression into the workplace. The qualification promotes high quality care and support that has been mapped to the standard within the Care Certificate. You will study a wide range of key subject areas in Health and Social Care, including communication, psychology and safeguarding.

Placement is a crucial element of your journey. You will be required to attend a placement in a real work environment to support your learning. The minimum required number of placement hours is 100 per year. This includes on-site experience with service users from within the community who may have learning disabilities or cognitive impairments, with whom you will plan and deliver sessions. This is a unique opportunity, not offered by other providers, to engage with service users and prepare you for work.

High standards of attire are a strict requirement during your course and will include a set College uniform. Text books relating to your course will be available and these are essential for your learning.

Next Steps

Achievement of the Level 3 Technical Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care supports access to Higher Education and progression into a wide range of job roles in the sector including children or adult nursing, social work, paramedic science, occupational therapy or teaching.
