Q: What was it that made you decide to choose Fareham to continue your education?
A: I chose Fareham College because it offered the Motor Vehicle course that I really wanted to study. Also the College has a good reputation for it’s Engineering subjects and excellent facilities.
Q: What did you enjoy most about your College course?
A: My course was very practical and hands on. I was able to take apart car engines to explore and learn about different parts, how they work and where they go which is knowledge that I have needed at Audi.
Q: What support did you have at Fareham College?
A: I had great support from my Motor Vehicle lecturer, David. He was always suggesting ways for me to improve my knowledge and he encouraged me to think about my ambitions for the future. In fact, he told me about the apprenticeship opportunity at Audi and recommended me.
Q: What does your role involve at Audi?
A: I am regularly responsible for carrying out car service tasks such as oil changes and water level checks. I also get the best job of un-packaging and inspecting brand new cars that arrive at the showroom, most of which are very impressive cars! I spend a lot of time shadowing, observing and working with my mentor, so I am still learning new things which is great.
Q: What pointers would you give to someone who is about to start their College course?
A: Make sure you show enthusiasm and passion in everything you do whether it is a lecture, a practical session, an interview or a job. Also, build a good relationship with your mentor or lecturer. They are there to help and guide you, and you should try to learn as much from them as you can.
