Huge congratulations to our students who took part in the Junior Leaders Field Gun competition at HMS Collingwood and won the highly coveted Plate 1 final trophy!
Fareham College participated in the event at HMS Collingwood from 1st-5th July 2019. After three and a half days of intense training, the group took part in 3 timed heats over successive days. Having completed the heats the team were then placed in to the Plate 1 final, alongside Itchen College, Chichester College, and a number of UTC crews.
After an exhilarating contest and an outstanding effort from our crew, we took second place to Itchen College by a narrow margin. However upon review Itchen College incurred a six second time penalty and as a result, thanks to our clean run, we were awarded the highly coveted Plate 1 final trophy.
Our number 1 trainer Alan Bradley was an inspiration to the team and without his knowledge and experience, this great victory would not have been possible.
