Shoppers at Fareham Shopping Centre will be able to take a break from shopping and enjoy playing some free table tennis as the Centre and Fareham College opens a pop-up Ping Pong Parlour.
The Parlour can be found opposite Vision Express and will be open during normal shopping hours. Everyone is welcome to drop in to play on one of the three table tennis tables in the parlour which promises to be an exciting attraction for visitors. The tables will pop up from Friday 12th April from 11am; to join in the fun, simply grab a bat and play – absolutely free of charge!
Fareham College and the Centre are delighted to have teamed up with Table Tennis England, the sport’s National Governing Body, to bring this exciting project to life.
Nigel Duncan, Principal of Fareham College, said; “Fareham’s Ping Pong Parlour offers a fabulous opportunity for all the family to enjoy playing one of the world’s best-loved games. The idea is to get as many people playing as possible, so everyone is welcome to play.”
Mike Taylor, Shopping Centre Manager, said; “It is fantastic to work with Fareham College and Table Tennis England to provide customers a free Pop-up Ping Pong Parlour. We hope our customers enjoy this great social activity whilst visiting the Centre.
Keely Armitt, Head of Participation at Table Tennis England added “We’re delighted that shoppers at Fareham will now be able to benefit from some free ping pong. We’ve already opened over 35 Ping Pong Parlours in other shopping centres nationwide; the Parlours form part of Table Tennis England’s vision to inspire people to get more active and have fun by introducing table tennis into a place they already spend time in their everyday lives”.
Other initiatives delivered by Table Tennis England helping to achieve this, include Ping!, a street ping pong project which places hundreds of outdoor tables in public places of towns and cities; Loop, which introduces table tennis into the workplace; and Ping in the Community, which provides table tennis opportunities for community organisations.
