Learners should hold a Level 2 physical education or sport related qualification.

Course details: Learners on this course will undertake a significant work-based placement with one of our key partners on a regular basis. This enables learners to build on the knowledge gained in lessons and demonstrate skills in the workplace.

Learners will be involved in assisting experienced sports coaches and activity leaders in school physical education lessons, after school clubs, holiday camps, events and more.

By the end of this course, students will have all the experience, skills and qualifications needed to gain employment as a sports coach/activity leader or progress their education further.

This includes: 

  • Level 3 delivery in PE and school sport
  • Level 2 multi-skills development in sport
  • First aid at work
  • Safeguarding and protecting children.

On successful completion on this course, you will be offered the opportunity to interview with one of our key partner organisations, in the hope to secure you paid employment, and your first steps into the diverse sector of sports leadership.

CM Sports work in more than 100 schools in Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Surrey with a workforce of 60+ sports coaches. They are accredited by Ofsted and deliver PE sessions, after-school-clubs, holiday camps and parties to more than 100 000 children each year.

This exciting new course provides learners with the key qualifications to deliver sport and physical activities to children in primary education. These qualifications will allow coaches to both lead and assist in the delivery of the PE National Curriculum as well as after-school-clubs in a range of sports and activities.

The programme has been designed in partnership with Fareham College and CM Sports. The priority has been to ensure learners develop the key skills required to deliver high quality, physical education/activity experiences. To achieve this, learners will also undertake regular placements in schools and holiday camps working alongside experienced coaches gaining valuable insights to industry best practice.

This vocational programme provides a unique steppingstone towards employment as a sports coach, with each learner completing the course, guaranteed an interview for employment with CM Sports.

School Leavers under the age of 19 do not have to pay fees on any full time courses, though may have to pay for their second year if turning 19 during their studies.

If you’re aged 19 or over you might qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. It’s easy to apply for and you won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £25,000. Find more information on Advanced Learner Loans on our website.

If you are studying a part-time course and you receive one of the following benefits, or you depend financially on someone who does, you may be entitled to have your tuition fees waived:

  • Universal Credit
  • Income Support

You will, however, have to pay any awarding body/assessment fees (unless you are on a first full level 2 course).

* If you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit or receive other allowances, you may be eligible to claim concessionary rates. If you are entitled to a fee concession you will be asked to provide proof of your entitlement.
