Applying for a Full Time Course

We encourage you to apply as soon as possible to secure your place. We accept applications year-round and can provide information and support should you change your mind at any stage of the application process.

Once you have submitted your application online, we will be in contact with you via letter to arrange an informal pre-interview between you and one of our Careers Centre Advisors. This is an opportunity to discuss your plans for the future and your chosen study programme.

Don’t worry if you’re torn between a number of courses, we’ll make sure that you find the path that’s the best fit for you, your aspirations and the grades you’re hoping to achieve.

In the spring term, we will also ask your school or previous college for a reference.

Due to the current situation caused by COVID-19, we encourage you to attend your interview on your own or with one other family member/guardian. If you would prefer for your interview to take place over the phone, please contact the relevant Careers Centre Advisor stated in your interview letter.

Following your interview with the Careers Centre Advisor, you will be invited to attend an Intro Session for your chosen course. This is the second part of your application and is vital to secure a place. Your Careers Centre Advisor will give you a paper invitation, so make sure to keep this safe.

Once you have had your pre-interview and attended your Intro Session, we will send your conditional offer letter to you in the post. This conditional offer is subject to a satisfactory reference from your school or previous college and meeting any entry requirements.

Please also be aware that for certain subjects you may need to submit a portfolio or audition before we can offer you a conditional place, your Careers Centre Advisor will discuss this in more detail at the interview.

During the spring term, you will receive information about travel and financial assistance that may be available. During the summer term, you will receive further details about Freshers Festival and the Enrolment process.

Freshers Festival takes place on Thursday 7th July 2022. This will be an opportunity for you to come in and meet lecturers, peers and ask any further questions you may have about starting with us at Fareham College. You can also spend time with friends and staff at our Festival in the afternoon!

Enrolment is the final step in the application process prior to you joining the College in September. During this stage, you will confirm your place on your chosen course before receiving your College ID and timetable. Attendance at Enrolment is compulsory and will take place at the end of August 2022.

Our autumn term starts week commencing Monday 5th September 2022, you will meet your lecturers and other students on your course.

You will receive your kit/ uniform lists prior to your start date, however, on your first day, you should receive your full timetable.

Taster Days at Fareham College

Our taster events are a great way for you to discover what life at Fareham College is like and to see for yourself why excellence is closer than you think at Fareham College.

Results from a recent survey showed that for nearly all of our current students, a taster event or activity with Fareham College helped them decide to study here.

We are running two Year 10 taster events over the summer, which will give you the opportunity to try a couple of our courses that you are interested in. The taster events will also allow you to meet lecturers and current students of ours at Fareham College. These taster events will be held in late June and early July. This information will be shared with your schools closer to the time.

We also have an extensive outreach offer that has been sent to all local schools. These outreach activities cover all courses at all campuses and are available for students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11. You can find out more about these from your teachers at school.

Attending a Taster Event means you will:

  • Be able to try out subjects you are interested in
  • Meet lecturers from your chosen courses
  • Meet students and experience the social life at the College
  • Have an opportunity to ask any questions
  • Receive all the help and support you need in order to make an informed choice about your future
