Childcare Students Trained in Buggy Defence
Our childcare students took part in a ‘buggy defence’ class where they were taught how to defend themselves and a baby or child should someone try to attack them.
The session was taught by Tim Ford, who is from TWF Self Defence. The session included defence techniques and recommended behavior under the threat of violence. The students learned how to manoeuvre buggies away from potential kidnappers or attackers and how to give themselves the best chance at escaping or alerting attention.
With growing concerns of intrusive paparazzi, robberies and kidnappings, buggy defence is a desired skill for childcare professionals particularly when working with high profile families. The session taught the students how to look after their charges in a variety of dangerous situations, so if they ever find themselves in danger then they are equipped with knowledge of how to cope.
