Fareham College Celebrates National Apprenticeship Week with Local Employers
To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, Fareham College students were invited to take part in a jam-packed schedule of workshops featuring a host of fantastic speakers from businesses including IBM, Estee Lauder, Portsmouth Football Club and Disney.
The theme of the workshops was employability, with the speakers focusing their discussions on how to get your foot in the door, the types of roles potentially available after college, and the expectations and pros and cons of working for larger companies.
National Apprenticeship Week celebrated its 10th anniversary of success this year, with emphasis on the positive impact Apprenticeships have on individuals, businesses, communities and the economy.
Fareham College Business Manager, Annelies James, said: “National Apprenticeship Week is a great opportunity to showcase the wide variety of Apprenticeship and employment opportunities that are available to students. Our focus has been on how to assist our students to obtain those opportunities. Apprenticeships are high priority at the moment, particularly with the Apprenticeship reforms coming into effect from April 2017.
“The focus at Fareham College is employability and helping our students to achieve great progression and we are thrilled to be able to engage with some fantastic local employers to really push that message. From speed interviewing, CV writing, goal setting and many more, we are enabling our students to think forward and get prepared for the world of work. Students from all curriculum have participated and really engaged in the spirit of NAW 2017!”
