Description:

This course is designed to support your development, knowledge, understanding and skills when caring for and supporting the learning and development of children aged 0-5 years. It comprises of 14 units.

High standards of attire are a strict requirement during your course and will include a set college uniform. Text books relating to your course will be available and these are essential for your learning.

As learners need to show competence in both skills and knowledge, they will need to be working or be on a practical placement in a learning environment (school or early years setting) during the taught programme of study, and therefore will also require a clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

You will complete tasks such as creative and physical activity plans for practical sessions, for example Teddy Tots, in which you work with toddlers from our on-site nursery. You will also complete a placement within an Early Years setting, where you will keep a professional skills record. You will be involved in exciting and practical experiences as well as completing projects, making leaflets, posters, producing presentations and writing assignments. All units will be internally assessed as well as some controlled assessments.
