Introduction

Traineeships are tailor-made study programmes for young people ages 19-24* who are interested in an Apprenticeship or securing work but require additional support to build their skills and confidence.

At Fareham College, our Traineeship programme is specifically designed to support you in the development of vital employability skills helping you stand out to employers.

Providing a mixture of in-classroom learning and work experience placement a Traineeship will provide all the support you need to progress onto an Apprenticeship, into employment, or another training course.

Build Important Skills

Traineeships provide you with important skills to support your journey towards a job including:

  • CV writing and job searching
  • Interview preparation and training
  • Focused work preparation training
  • A high quality work placement
  • Receive up to £60 a week for your travel expenses 
  • English and Maths support – for those that have not achieved GCSE grade C or equivalent
  • Progression planning for an Apprenticeship or employment

Depending on your particular needs, we are able to offer a variety of support ensuring you succeed to the best of your ability. Traineeships are a great option if you are:

  • 19-24* years old
  • Not currently in employment, training or education
  • Hold qualifications at GCSE or level 3 (typically A Levels or BTECs achieved at College) or no qualifications at all
  • Are enthusiastic, reliable and ready to start or develop your career
  • Would like to improve your existing English and Maths qualifications

One of the biggest benefits of a Traineeship is that you will gain work experience in an industry you are interested in. We work closely with a number of employers from a diverse range of industries in and around Fareham, Gosport, Portsmouth and Southampton who can provide you with valuable experience.

The Traineeship programme is delivered through a combination of in-classroom learning, covering a variety of topics and subjects, followed by work experience on an industry placement.

How is a Traineeship delivered?

Before you enrol

As soon as you successfully apply for a Traineeship we start planning the work experience you would like to do, and find you a suitable employer to work with. It’s just like applying for a job, and we will forward your CV to our sponsor companies who will then interview you for your work placement.
