You’ll be very much aware that the roadmap out of lockdown allows for schools and colleges to return to classroom teaching from 8th March and we are really looking forward to welcoming you back on campus.
As we return to having all students on-site again, we wish to ensure that all members of our college community remain as COVID-safe as possible. The protocols we had in place before this latest lockdown will continue to apply. For example, you’ll remain in your set groups for lunch and we will continue to expect you to wear face coverings, but we do now ask that you wear these in lessons too.
Asymptomatic COVID Lateral Flow Testing
Prior to returning to class, we will ask that all full time students participate in asymptomatic COVID lateral flow testing. Part Time students and apprentices over the age of 18 who attend infrequently may be issued home testing kits rather than going through the Lateral Flow Test Centre at the College. More information about this to follow.
The Lateral Flow Test is a quick and easy swab (cotton bud) test that determines the presence of COVID-19 even if you have no symptoms. Having taken a test and received a negative result you can start lessons.
You will be invited to come in for your first test from Wednesday 3rd March. Please confirm if you can attend, or if you wish to book an alternative time slot. You will be invited in to a specific time slot, please do let us know if you can’t make the slot allocated and we will rebook you.
Before you attend your test, we are required to obtain your consent. Please click on the following link and complete the form before your scheduled test consent form.

If possible, please can you ensure that you have not eaten or drunk anything for 30 minutes before taking your test.
Lessons will restart on your existing timetable from Monday 8th March. You will then be asked to take two further test at the College three to five days apart. After that you will be provided with home testing kits and asked to use these twice a week. More information about this to follow.
The testing is nothing to worry about; it’s a simple and pain-free process. Please follow this link to a short video regarding the testing process at the College.
Current guidance states that even if you have already received a COVID-19 vaccine, you should still take part in the Lateral Flow Testing process and undertake a test.
Please remember:
- Do not come into the College if you have any COVID-19 symptoms – high temperature, persistent cough, or loss of taste / smell
- Wear a face covering at all times indoors – including in lessons
- Maintain your social distancing and keep good hand hygiene
- Attend your lateral flow testing at your designated time before your return on Monday 8th March.
Should you have any questions, please email covid@fareham.ac.uk
We can’t wait to see you back on campus again soon!
